Development Behind the New Cinema

After some investigation, I have managed to ascertain some information about what is going on behind the new theater. Apparently, the rumor that there will be some sort of Strip Mall or shopping complex behind the theater is not true, at least as far as neighboring property owners know. The most detailed information I have been able to get is that there will be 72 new homes, a Nascar Parts place (I have no idea what that is, but it is apparently the metal building being constructed now), the mini-golf and Go-carts park, a restaurant of some type, and a retail establishment of some type. Of course, this information may change but it is by far the most detailed I have heard thusfar. Below, I will outline what I have learned bout certain places.

Go-Cart and Mini-Golf Park

The owner, Wayne, is a friendly and inspirational character from New Jersey whose mission is to give the youth in Somerset something to do besides sit around in the Wal-Mart parking lot or recreational drug use. To me, this is somewhat radical and I welcomed the news with open arms. Currently the Mini-Golf part is the only thing that will be opening soon. He has yet to begin on the Go-Cart section, which he hopes to complete by next year. He also has plans for Mini-Golf tournaments and leagues, television monitors for viewing action on the course, Cornhole (Don't laugh, that's the name of that Beanbag-Horseshoes game you have been seeing around town. It's apparently quite the fad in Internet cultural circles), and a stage where he may possibly have Free Friday Flicks. He confirmed that the new Waterpark, from information gleaned from conversations with the mayor, will have both Mini-golf and Go-carts which he hoped would spur competitions.

Golden Corral

It's anybody's guess where the new Golden Corral will be located but generally everyone is banking on the lot across from Ponderosa. There was a rumor that it would be beside the new theater, but that will apparently be another restaurant (I have heard Outback but refuse to believe it unless Somerset goes wet). Some people have said that Chick-Fil-A is coming but I do not know for sure.
